About Anne and her work

Anne is a fully qualified Furniture Restorer with a Bachelor of Science in Conservation & Restoration. Her work is grounded in professional conservation and restoration principles informed by both academic training and extensive hands on work.

Her professional journey into restoration began with a passion for woodworking and an understanding of the materials that make up fine furniture. Over the years, Anne has honed her skills through hands-on practice and continuous learning, studying traditional techniques and modern advancements in restoration practices.

Each project presents unique challenges, and Anne approaches them all with a problem-solving mindset.

Beyond her technical prowess, Anne values building relationships with her clients. She understands that each piece of furniture carries personal significance and history, and she takes the time to listen to her clients’ stories and vision for their restoration projects. This collaborative approach ensures that the final result meets or exceeds their expectations.

Through her work, Anne aims to extend the life of cherished furniture and connect current and future generations with the craftsmanship of the past.

Originally from Thüringen in Germany, Anne has been living and working in Ireland since 1999. From an early age, she developed a deep fascination for traditional skills, influenced by a strong family heritage in cabinetmaking , creative craftsmanship and horticulture - disciplines that continue to shape and inspire her life and work.

Anne studied the principles of Art and Design at an Occupational College in Germany (1994) before completing a Bachelor of Science in Furniture Conservation and Restoration at GMIT Letterfrack , graduating with distinction in 2007.

Anne began her professional career in Ireland working with specialist paint effects companies on decorative art projects for both local and international clients. Work involved the creation of unique and captivating environments using a wide range of materials such as plaster, gold leaf, paints and glazes.

Today, Anne brings together her formal training as a furniture conservator and restorer with her experience in specialist decorative finishes. Committed to continual learning, Anne regularly collaborates with skilled professionals such as art glaziers, upholsterers, and locksmiths.

Her work is guided by a deep respect for historical objects, traditional craftsmanship, and the mastery of time-honored skills.
